A very narrow strap laces up to the knee.  I always think of the great old gladiator  movies when I'm making this style.  

I call these Ben-Hur straps.

My customers tell me they get a lot of compliments when wearing these sandals.  Sexy is the word I hear when people talk about this style. The ultra-thin straps look great, but don't hold the sandal to the foot as well as most other styles. Still, if head-turning good looks are what you want in a sandal, then this might be the right choice for you.   Keep in mind that you do have to lace them up every time you put them on.  Straps can be cut to any length.
